Feeling the pace

As I write I am still recovering from the weekend's training. I've spent at least 3 hours dozing on the sofa and dragged myself to the curry house for a treat - the sunday buffet means I can get as much chicken tikka as I can eat, protein kick that still feels like a treat!
Unlike last week, this week I chose to do the three sports Saturday Morning, but as my personal sadist (sorry trainer) had done a real good number on me on Thursday I was feeling the pain of overworked muscles as I dragged my body out of bed. To make sure I didn't go mad I didn't take the garmin on the bike, but I didn't let myself off as I ended up leaving late and needing to race there anyway. Still made it there with 10 mins to spare, met friend from work and got myself into the pool.
This week I stuck to the card with all the intructions on it with slightly longer warm up and cool down so I made it 2350m (or 94 lengths). During the swim I shared the lane with Helen, who had only learned to swim in March and had had recent hip surgery and was just back from holiday and not at full fitness - she still made me feel slow though! But it's a small world as I found we had done the same Edinburgh Marathon in roughly the same times and both of us complained about the stolen water... !
Drained of all energy I get back on the bike and head home, this time getting there and getting the trainers straight on. Unlike last week I didn't need to stop and managed a full 5 miles in 8:10 pace which is amazing for me! So maybe I can do this triathlon after all. 30 minutes rest then I'm hustled by my wife into the car to act as pack pony around our local outlet village, 3 mile walk with bags - but I was allowed a sunday from Baskins and Robbins as a reward. Then home, quick change and out to watch the family band - where i spent the night bouncing and dancing to the point where my t-shirt was so wet (hot night!) only the hem was the original colour. Home for 1:30 am then up at 6:30 am to go to the beach for a 3 mile leg loosener and a series of sprints..... Soooo tired now!
My wetsuit arrived on Saturday, I've not tried it on yet so the next two challenges are to A) get into the tiny looking thing.... and B) actually swim in open water! Scary stuff, but here goes!
