How did I miss 2 weeks?

Aug22201011:39 a.m.

Has anyone else ever deluded themselves about the time passing?  I've been counting down the weeks to the triathlon and last night I checked the calendar...  I thought there was 6 weeks left, but in reality it's 4......  Aargghh, there was a time hole in July that I must have missed somehow.

So I only have 3 more open water swim session, 2 pool sessions and one long run left in my preparation.  I want more, the swim is rapidly becoming a bit of a worry as my technique is sorely lacking.  On the bright side I think I can see improvement, after this morning's run I followed a tip by going in for just 30 lengths as a technique only session.  And the closest swimmer only managed 15 lengths in the same time - to be fair, in my gym the only people swimming are over 60 and I started faster than them, but I'm sure I've picked up 5 lengths or so.

This morning's run was satisfying too, Mr Competitve from the the 10K was the only other attendee of the Sunday morning club.  Just back from holiday we decided to do a fast / slow 4 miler.  1 mile slow, 1 mile fast, walk, 1 mile slow, 1 mile fast, slow jog - covering about 4.5 miles in total.  Mile 1 9.15, mile 2 7.30, mile 3 9.24, mile 4 7.21 with a tale.  Mr C struggled on the 1st fast mile, so on the 2nd I wanted to motivate him through but after 0.5 mile he says GO!  So first 0.5 done in 4 mins, second half in 3.20....  And it felt great (but hard) so must try to see how long this pace can stay one crazy day.

Keep blogging everyone.
