Well it started well...

I could feel a cold coming on yesterday and this morning I awoke to a fit of sneezing and a constant drippy nose. I looked (and still look) horrific! But of course that wasn't going to get in the way of my weekend run! To begin with I felt brilliant, full of energy and the cold seemed to disappear. Half way round though and things went a bit wrong. My energy disappeared and my right trail shoe started to rub at the heel. By the last mile I was limping home, knackered, sneezing, and with every step I could feel a layer of skin being shaved off at the heel!
The trail shoes were a gift over a year ago and they still look almost new, but months of forcing my feet in to them without undoing the laces properly have pushed the heel cushioning down in to a blister-causing-ball. It seems a bit of a crime having to replace them when, otherwise, they are in really good condition. I cant see next weekeneds 18k race being much fun in them though so I guess Ill have to accept that their running days are over.
