About Trans-alpine challenge
I'm training to run the tran-alps in September, a 305km 8 day race across the alps from Germany, through Austria, to Italy, it includes 13.500 metres of elevation which is equivalent to climbing everest twice. I am raising funds for the Lodging House Mission, a day centre for homeless, where I have been a volunteer for 18 months. It is based in the east end of Glasgow, where I was born and raised- after working in deprived areas of the city as a doctor for a few years, I decided to give something back to the community, in particular to those I feel who are most vulnerable and in greatest need. I'm finding the fundraising nearly as gruelling as the training and have decided to chart my progress via this blog too help keep my motivation levels up. I have an online donation page at www.lhmglasgow.org if anyone has some spare pennies
Until I sigend up for this epic challenge the furthest I had run was a half-marathon and I ran my first hill race just under 1 year ago. Fingers crossed i make it to the finish line....
