First post!

I got an email from realbuzz, and seeing as I have nothing else to do, thought I'd start a blog and start posting again. Perhaps, just perhaps, it'll give me a little bit of impetus to do more, or stay more active.
Wellington hills were a sonofabitch when I got here - the entire place is built on either the sides of hills or reclaimed land. And if it's not reclaimed, then it's a hill. Finding somewhere flat to run was a pain, but fortunately there's a beautiful set of bays and the harbour not too far down the hill from our house. :)
I just started training seriously again - about a month or so into it now, but having some trouble that I didn't have before. I think I'm going to try and blame my new shoes - the Asics Gel Landreth 5. I switched from the Cumulus 9 because I had to - things were getting really difficult and the cushioning had all but disappeared.
But the don't sell Cumulus at Wellington's only running shop! They sold Landreth, which was the neutral shoe of choice, although during the footprint and treadmill test it transpired that I started to overpronate on my left foot.
Landreth aren't anything compared to the Cumulus though - there's either not enough cushion or the shoe has less of a curve on the front, so I might be having trouble with my transitions.
All the hills though, I'm having trouble with my shins and calves! When you live 100m up the side of a cliff, no matter where you run to find a flat circuit, you've always got to run back up hill...
...truth is, I'm getting used to it now. I used to avoid the hills, but now I actively seek them out.
Should see my calves. Damn. ;)
