Zicam to the rescue?
Nov1820082:44 a.m.
Woke up on Sunday morning with a little tickle in my throat and was pretty sure I knew what that meant -- a cold on the way.
I felt a little miserable y'day. Not terrible, just under the weather with a sore throat and some congestion. But often these colds will stick around for weeks, and waking up this a.m. I couldn't have imagined suiting up to run 26.2m.
So I started on Emergen-C (powders with huge doses of Vitamin C), sucking on Ricola, and today bought some zinc tablets called Zicam that are supposed to shorten the duration of a cold. They start off tasting like bubble gum and after you chew on them they taste kinda yucky. I think it's helping though -- fingers crossed. Drinking lots of hot tea, too, and water. Anything to flush out the impurities.
I skipped a short run I had planned on Sunday, today was an SRD and we'll see how tomorrow goes. I'm not to worried about final taper miles for my "after-thon."
Current weather forecasts for Philly on Sunday look favorable, but evolving...

a_bet_made_me 'Well I hope the cold disappears quickly! You've done all the training now for Philly and maybe the cold will force you to taper more than might have been the case!! Good luck for Sunday I hope the weather and course suit you, and ENJOY THE DAY!!!' added 19th Nov 2008
