2 families x old stuff = $1948.37 for MMRF!
As you may already know, I am running the Chicago marathon on 10-10-10 in honor of Mike (and Linda) Mobley and in memory of my Mom, as well as to raise money and awareness for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF). I am on this journey with my friend Michelle who, in spite of injuries, is gutting out fundraising along with whatever training miles her legs will allow.
Friday morning I woke up at 3:45AM to meet my girls at 4:15AM for a 16-mile training run. The weather was beautiful (Mel: "Oh, look at the stars!" Bobbi: "Mel, when have I ever cared about looking at stars or anything else on a run for that matter!?") It was a cool, crisp 57 degrees F, but the sliver of moon yielded only a bit of light onto the countryside. We could hardly see the road, but knew to avoid the "dark spots" which were either puddles from a recent rain or "horse piles"!
I got home and started preparing for the yard sale, and Michelle joined me later in the afternoon after she got off work. We had TONS of clothing, scrapbooking supplies, furniture, household items, etc. etc. Our turnout was HUGE and at the end of the evening we had made just over $1300!!!!
The next morning Luke crawled into our bed and reminded me to wake him up early so he could "get donuts with Daddy and help with the MMRF sale."
The next day Luke and his buddy set up a lemonade stand:
...and he made $27.11! All together we made a grand total of $1948.37 for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation!!!
In case you were wondering, this is what $1948.37 for MMRF looks like:
Thank you to our familes, our spouses, our friends, our co-workers, and to each and every one of your who helped us raise above and beyond what we imagined!
The medical community is making great strides toward a cure for Multiple Myeloma, and this weekend we hope our efforts further the cause.
