Back in the bloggin' saddle again!

OK, so it's been way too long since I've last updated my blog! 

I am a mere 49 days out from the 2010 Chicago marathon, and for the 3rd year in a row I am running to raise funds for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in memory of my mom in heaven and in honor of our friend Mike at home.

I am following a modified version of Tom Holland's Intermediate Training Program.  I say "modified" because I had an achilles pain issue which required cross-training (mostly aqua jogging) the first few weeks of training.  

This week I did 6, 8, 3, and 19 miles = 36 miles total.  My achilles still gives me grief, especially while running uphill or immediately following a long run.  I have just started going to physical therapy twice weekly for "Graston" treatments which are anything less than pleasant!

19 miles today...started at 4:30AM with my running girl buddies, in the rain, sloshing thru puddles.  Last weekend we had 18 miles thru same...  I think my dream running weather conditions would be around 35 degrees and cloudy - enough of the rain and humidity already! 

We had three cooler stops.  Here are the items he had at each stop (for the 4 of us):

3 bottles Gatorade, 3 bottles water, and snacks!

The temps at 8:30 PM as shown in the car:  86 degrees..

We dropped the coolers in ditches alongside the country roads on our route.  Here's our 6 year old, Luke, strategically placing the cooler which was hidden in a plastic shopping bag...

I lay out my clothes the night before in the hallway - I don't want to disturb hubby when I get up at 3:45AM!!!
