Overview

This is my "training blog" for the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon. I am the father of 3 yr old triplets and somehow find time to train to run a half marathon!

ok...in all this maylay...i forgot that i had started a blog!!! so i hope to be on here a little more updating the training that i'm doing.

today i ran 3.5 miles and did 30 min of weight training...and i am now sore in my upper body. i'm up to a good pace now...averaging about 10 minutes a mile. i hope to get to around 9:15 a mile and be a little faster.

it's tough though, to get out and get into "training mode" after a long day of work and then getting 3 kids fed and ready for bath and bed. well...some might say...run in the mornings...have you met me? i am not a morning person at all. i do well to make it out of the bed for work. that is why i am on the computer at 11:45 pm at night!!! i am a night person and do better at night. however, i have been able the past couple weeks to get into the Y during the afternoons and run then.

so, i'm looking forward to the upcoming weeks and upping my training to get ready for the 1/2.

well, we'll be back later...

so today was a bummer. i got stuck in traffic on I-75 on the way home from Chattanooga and didn't get in any running today. probably wouldn't have anyway because it was raining and i wanted to run outside instead of inside. i'm going to have to concede to running inside some because the weather is getting colder and it would be helpful to just go run inside at the Fort and then come home.

we'll see how that goes. i'm itching to get out again...my schedule has been so hectic, i haven't gotten as much time in as i'd like.

did some squats and lunges tonight...forgot how bad my legs hurt after them :) going to try to get in a few miles tomorrow.

hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving.

well, today is monday and yesterday i completed the buddy's 5k in about 35 minutes. it was a blast. it was the first "real" race that i have run in a while and to be honest, my only goal was to get across the finish line still alive and breathing rather well. i accomplished both of those goals!

The first mile i started off pretty well and felt i had a pretty good tempo going, but about the mile and a half marker i was struggling. luckily for me there was a couple hills there and i was able to walk up them (at a fast pace!) and then gain momentum coming down the other side.

all in all i felt pretty good about it and i am not to sore today!!!

i am looking forward to more races in the future and more running this week!

and to think that two weeks ago i was thinking...i can't do that...well, one step at a time. i've conquered the 5k so now on to...another 5k before anything else. (baby steps folks!)
