SQUELCH!!
Mar0220101:33 p.m.
Whoever was responsible for placing that massive mud bath slapbang in the middle of my 12k, please come and get it back. Mind you, I was having such a great run that it didn't spoil it too much for me but I'm afraid the mud did for my socks which I have soaking but, I fear, will never be featured in a look how spotless my washing powder makes my whites adverts.
So it was a 12k PB at 1:06:39. I had to slow down when I came across the guy swearing his head off to his mate and walking a pitbull, a doberman and a crazed looking puppy - all off their leads. I am afraid of dogs and they had to be numbers 1 to 3 of my top ten of most terrifying pooches. I had to admit tackling the ankle deep mud was more enjoyable than passing those dogs and trying not to let them smell my fear.
I squelched back in to the dock and tried for a sprint finish. Try being the operative word but I hope your runs were as cool as mine was today!

simonedumergue 'lol - I have a drawer full of grey socks after all my forays through mud. What gets me is that weird feeling when it suddenly soaks through the top of your trainer. Most unnerving! I'm with you on the fear of dog thing. My heart starts hammering away like mad if I see scary dogs off the leash. Once I was out running when these two boxers blocked my path. Tails up, ears back, growling like nothing else and then they started running hard at me. I thought I was going to die from sheer terror. I had to make myself stand rock still and wait a good half hour for them to retreat. God, I still feel freaked just recounting that!!! Needless to say, I have run down that out of the way route again. Eeek. Glad you enjoyed your run so much. I'm going MAD from lack of running (hence the gym rage) and waiting waiting waiting for my orthotics. Hrumph. Happy running :-)' added 2nd Mar 2010
