Ok,so I have a Golden Bond place for the Virgin London Marathon 2010!! Yipee!!

Im raising money for LOOK which helps kids with visual impairments and will be donning a fancy dress of sorts to help me along the way. I was unlucky in the 2000 ballot and have always wanted to do a Marathon.....and its taken 10 years!

Im looking forward to the training although it's been a while since the running. Was always fit until children came along so the challenge should be fun!!

Hopefully this blog will keep me motivated!

Easy does it now....

It's a lovely day here in Perth and pefect for a nice long-ish run. I use the term long-ish as I'm still building back up from the break.

4.5 miles on a different route..nice and straight. Had a few walk breaks because my legs were just not wanting to play today. It was like dragging bricks or something. The stretching helped a lot. I'm not fussed by walking parts-it gets me from A - B without injury..which is important!!  It was very frosty when I set out and was very nearly hit by a skidding car whilst waiting to cross the road- he'd pulled out a little to give me space but the back end swung out and he went sideways down the road a bit and ended up facing the wrong way. It wasn't a good start to my run. I was  a wee bit flustered after that.

It was still quite icy in patches and had to switch from pavement to road a lot.

I'm back to suffering my dreaded post run headache but I know I just need ot sort out my fluids etc before I go.

Ah well of to the in -laws for some food.

Me legs hurt!

xx

Make sure you are fully hydrated the day before and before you step out have a pint of water. I find this helps on the headache front. Glad you're getting back out there though, well done.

Keep upping the mileage slowly, in a few weeks you should be back on track with where you want to be.
