Half Marathon and Fundraiser

Mar2520101:37 p.m.

It's been while !!

Sorry for not blogging (bad girl).

What an eventful few weeks it has been.First off I did my first EVER half Marathon up in Inverness. Yay. I won't lie...I was petrified! Far too many keen runners and not enough "me s" . There was just over a thousand runners and I spent pretty much most of it right at the back..you know..with the race car! lol

I took off FAR too quick which I always seem to do. It was the same fear I had at school when I didn't want to be last in something.  Also I had too many layers on.The day was cold enough but then the sun came out and I was roasting. I was cursing a lot of the way round because I didn't have anyone to give my stuff too so it was all squashed in around my person!

After about 6 miles I calmed down and resigned myself to the back with about 6 others. Had a few little conversations and wine gums with fellow runners and I started to enjoy it. And as the mile went in I was overtaking some of the others. The worst part was at Mile 11/12 when the route started back to where we started from and all the finishers were heading home with their medals!! Had a view various shouts of "You go girl" and "well done, nearly there!"Embarassed

I was struggling though.I think the adrenaline had sapped all my energy and I was really needing some fuel...but I'd accidently chucked my jelly beans in the bin along with a tissue! Arghhhh!

The last mile was LONG and I didn't know where the finish was.lol It was a lap of the sports track where I spotted my dad, husband and 2 sons cheering me on. My 3 year old son chased after me and crossed the finish line in superquick timeSmile

All in all 2hrs 45 and 57 seconds ! Not bad for me!

Had to head back down to Perth in the car and felt rotten all the way with the worst stomach cramps but I gotta medal! (proud)

Tuesday past I had my charity Quiz night and Auction for LOOK. Was worried about team numbers and generally worrying about everything! It went really well and I raised £469 pounds ! I also had far too many gins which actually helped when I had to take the microphone and thank everyone at the end.

Some of the winners!

Smile!!

So glad everything is going well for a change. Have since managed a 15 miler and out tonight and this weekend for some more!!

Not long to go now
