Extreme driving!

Feb08201210:36 a.m.

Well, I tried. 40 mins run today so out I went. No chance, had to turn back after ten minutes. The paths are covered in frozen rutted snow, and where parts have been cleared, black ice. I tried running in the carriageway upto the point where the ignorant bastard in the green Cherokee Jeep nearly wiped me up. He shouldn,t be on the road if he can't see my flourescent jacket!

Phoned the nearest sports centre with a synthetic athletics track in the vain hope that they had employed some marvellous machine to sweep the lanes clean. Like I say, I tried!

I read on a blog that one of you had planned to drive 50 miles to find a nice route to run and had wondered whether this was extreme. No I think its a thoroughly sensible idea for us obsessed runners.

So anyone tell me a route near to Epping in Essex that is snow free and about 14 miles long please? I'll go upto 50 miles!

  • philk 'That was me asking that, and we don't have snow round here (or ice). I just get bored with the same scenery and want a change, it gives me something to look forward to knowing that I don't know what is round the corner. Can you not run on a treadmill in a gym? ' added 8th Feb 2012
