Program overload.

Morning all,
What a great way to end the weekend. Sunday was my rest day and I spent hours in a field building an igloo, I mean helping the kids build an igloo!
It was good to rest my legs for a day. They were tired after 4 consecutive days running and a weeks mileage total of 26 miles.
I am using the VLM beginners training program which seems to suit me , but I am 3 weeks ahead of where I should be. I'm uncertain as to whether I should repeat some weeks or maybe add extra miles when I prematurely reach the end of the schedule until I have the last tapered weeks.
I prefer the idea of making up the last few by increasing the long runs and maintaining the shorter distances but not sure if I would be overdoing it.
Ideas from you established runners would be appreciated. Thanks.

andyuns 'If you're feeling ok I would carry on with your programme until you are getting to long runs of 15 / 18 / 20 miles. I would then repeat those weeks. You should have run 20 miles about 2 or 3 weeks before the VLM. You should then taper your mileage.' added 6th Feb 2012

shazzer 'I agree with andyuns and would repeat the last 3 weeks. Igloo building - sounds like a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. ' added 6th Feb 2012
