Another month, another blog!!

Nov0220113:27 p.m.

I do actually have a couple of excuses for why it has taken over 2 weeks to blog again. Firstly I have been on holiday for 8 days to Lanzarote. Secondly, I have been quite ill, so have hardly run, so haven't actually had much to blog about!!

It all started a fortnight ago with a routine trip to the dentist on the Weds morning. I had done a couple of steady 4 milers on the Mon and Tues mornings, and Weds at 9am was an appointment for a filling. But it went horribly wrong. I won't give you the gory details about haing the roots of the tooth drilled through to actually split the tooth into 3 separate pieces as they took 2 hours extracting it, but suffice to say it hurt, a lot, and I suffered, a lot, afterwards. In fact, for a long time afterwards. About 9 days on tons of painkillers to be precise, with a throbbing head, most of that time laying on a sunbed with a throbbing headache, not alcohol induced sadly!

I was gutted, as not only was I not drinking as much alcohol as should be allowed on holiday, my throbbing head was stopping me visiting the run haunts I had in Feb 2010 when training for London!

By the Sunday just gone, still in Lanza, I felt up to a 4 miler, and it felt good to be out, and then back home, I did another 4 miler yesterday first thing, and the pain in the mouth flared up again, probably due to the cold air getting into my mouth. This may be a problem for a short time now I am back home?

So 2 runs in a fortnight, 8 miles, not ideal, but at least I am on the mend. Now Sun 20th Nov is the Barnsley 10k, it is a very slow and hilly course anyway, and if I enter I know a PW is definitely on the cards given my current running form, and serious lack of current fitness, but I am tempted, for some reason I have not actually started a race yet this year, and the start line is only a few miles from home!! I am also going to do a Reindeer Run 10k for the RNLI in early Dec, and I am eyeing up the Great North West HM in Blackpool at the end of Feb, and judging from Facebook a bloggy gathering may be on the cards, hurrah!!

I will catch up on blog comments later, I really need to catch up on what you are all up to!!

Happy Trails..............

  • Firefly123 'Ooh poor you, Glen. That all sounds very nasty. I hope you feel completely better soon. I think, if you feel up to it, you should enter the Barnsley 10K. I personally have run so many personal worsts this year that I've given up worrying about it!' added 3rd Nov 2011
