What do you think of the weather then?
Nov2520098:21 a.m.
Morning, can't believe it's been so long since my last blog. Have been so busy this month has flown by. As for the weather, well, last night, in amongst all the rain, I lost my hat, blown completely off back up the road!

Am back to really enjoying my running again. Haven't managed to get out for three runs a week but have done two reasonable ones a week of between 3 and 5 miles (mostly 5 milers). Did a very slow 5.5 miles on Friday but that was because I had a very sore back. Had had a meeting at Matthew's school sat on small chairs and twisting round - not a good idea and I suffered for it!
Last night was club night and only three of us turned up - the rest wimped out. Rained most of the way round and the wind was against us nearly all the way - why does it never feel like its behind you and helping you out? Anyway, my two buddies were much faster than me and as usual I was trailing behind them. This wasn't helped by getting stuck further behind because of traffic at junctions that seemed to catch me and not them! Anyway, ipod on, head down and push on. Felt really hard but then two runs a week isn't really enough. Did a 4.6 mile loop of the town and it was quite a hilly route. Legs were starting to turn to jelly by the time we finished. Average pace was 10.19 which is good for me so chuffed.
I can't quite leave my garmin at home but I've stopped looking at it all together during a run and it seems to be helping, perversely. My logic is that if I notice I'm running fast it used to shock me and make me feel I'd not make it all the way round so I would slow down. Now just desparately trying to stay in sight of people and not have a clue what pace I'm doing I'm getting faster. Now the psychology is I don't want to lose sight of them so push myself harder! Has anybody else found that not looking at their Garmin improves their running?
Happy running. It's getting much busier on here now so harder to keep up but everyones training for VLM seems to be going well. Fingers crossed the weather improves in the not too distant future.

simonedumergue 'I was wondering where you'd been! Good to hear you are still out there running. I don't have a Garmin (although I think Santa is bringing me on) so I am rather keen on knowing how I am doing during rather than after, but I can imagine you could get obsessed with the thing! I'm running five times a week now and it makes such a difference. But I do have time available at the moment, which is a little unusual. Hope you continue onwards and upwards :-)' added 25th Nov 2009

Dim 'Glad to see I'm not on my own struggling to keep up the blogging at the moment. Like John F, I struggle to see my Garmin unless it's light so I tend to look at it less in the winter than in the summer. That said, I've looked at it even less these last two weeks whilst trying to fend off the lurgy. Keep up the good work Chris' added 2nd Mar 2010
