About First time London Marathon runner - eek!

Well, bit late in the game to be joining the London Marathon bloggers, but having read many of your blogs out there I felt I should join the community.

This is my first London Marathon and I was so VERY lucky to get a place through the main ballot. I have chosen to raise money for 3 charities, Cancer Research UK, Headway and the Highland Hospice. My Mum and Dad have both suffered from Cancer and Mum was cared for at the hospice, which is a lovely place in Inverness, Scotland. My boyfriend's father suffered a horrible brain injury during/after a heart attack nearly 3 years ago, hence my support for the work that Headway do for people with brain injuries.

I am not a very good runner, although I did manage a 2 hour half marathon about 7 years ago when I was a rower (and somewhat fitter than these days). Having reached the big 30 milestone last year I felt that the London Marathon was one of the things that needed to be ticked off the list of things to do before you die (or get too old)! I have always watched it on the TV every year (mostly in tears from the emotion of it all) and am feeling VERY excited about being on that start line with you all on 25th April!

Good luck everyone!
