Been a while

Bad Harry. Very bad Harry.

I had a two week break from running, due to a combination of hangovers and, well, hangovers. Now the end of year celebrations are out of the way, I really have no excuses. And so, went for a quick run with my girlfriend on Sunday, did about 2 and a half miles in half an hour or so which was easy as. Have had it stuck in my head that running on grass is somehow easier on my legs than pavement, but the complete lack of pain I got street running that evening changed my mind. Another run the next evening had me convinced - ran well over 4 miles in about 45 minutes round streets nearby and, aside from a shoulder twinge which a few seconds stretching sorted out, had no pain and plenty left in the tank. Was worried I'd set myself back a little, but it seems I hadn't lost anything with the two weeks off, though during those two weeks I did have a few hours on the exercise bike.

Had another run with the missus this afternoon of a little under 3 miles in a half hour, this time back around the park but spending as much time on the paved areas as possible. Took it nice and easy again as she's just starting out running, but we both did fine. Felt good, except for a little heaviness in the legs which could having something to do with the beers yesterday afternoon...

Will have another 4 mile run before the weekend, either tomorrow or Friday, and I'd say I'm back on track for where I wanted to be after a month or so running. Hurrah.
