Scouts honour

Jun19200912:55 a.m.

I've realised that I don't post on here unless I've been running a lot during the week, which is not the intention I had when I started out. So, from here on in, I'll post every Wednesday evening regardless of how drunk/lazy/motivated I've been in the preceeding week. Scouts honour.

Unfortunately I have to immediately break my rule since I'm off to Glastonbury next week, which gives me an enforced 6 day break at the least (plus what I expect will be a considerable recovery time after..). Thankfully however I have been back on the road a few times since my last post, and I am noticing a gradual improvement, particularly in the strength of my legs as they become accustomed to road running.

Rather than pick up the distance I've been trying to increase my pace, getting from a little over ten minute miles to my most recent run which had me at under nine minutes. The only problem I had last night was the pain in my shoulder coming back with a bang during my second lap of the college, but I ran through and it had disappeared completely by the end of the run. I know I could go faster or further (probably not much of both at the same time just yet), but I'm keeping it sensible.

Tomorrow I'll go for a 5 mile run without a target time, just want to see how long it naturally takes me to run that distance. I expect a little over 50 minutes, but we'll see. Wish me luck!
