Kilomathon Done and Dusted
As it was the first ever 26.2k race I have got myself a PB :-)
I decided to pace myself round at my marathon pace so reckoned it wouldnt be an issue as my half marathon is 8mm and my marathon pace was 8:20-8:30 and this race was only 3.1miles more and I wasnt wrong.
Every time I thought that I was going a tad too fast I reined it in and felt fine. At 12 miles I then let myself go with whatever I felt I could get away with and crossed the line in 2:14:53 (8:15mm) - considering 2:15 was what I was aiming for I was quite chuffed. In fact even more chuffed when I found out that I was 55th lady in my age out of 529!
Briefly saw Vicki Bombicki and looks like she was also spot on her time so a big well done to her.
The race was flat except some bridges to get over, plenty of water, plenty of marshalls and the best goodie bag ive ever had. The medal is a bit bling for my liking but considering I wasnt looking forward to the race I reckon I might just to it again.
Thanks for all your "Good Lucks", it must have worked for me. I have Ashby 20m next weekend on my 40th birthday and will aim to do a 8:20-8:30 pace there too.
