Wow! Awesome!
Nov0520081:53 p.m.
I'm now back in the UK, tired but still exhilarated by the whole experience - the above sums it up!
The crowds were absolutely amazing - so much noise, so much support.
I ran 3.47.44 - which I am absolutely thrilled with especially because it was at a very even pace (half marathon time 1.53.26). It also means I should get a good for age place for London 2010 which is great as I'm definitely hooked on this running marathons lark!
I hope everyone else who ran is happy with their runs and had a fantastic experience too - I will keep looking to see if you post times/stories etc.
I'll take things easy for a few weeks and then the training will start for FLM09!

simonplcox 'Hilar, well done! That is a great time. Did you enjoy the whole trip? What a great place eh? LEt me know your thoughts about the strat times, and the slow walk to get out of the ark afterwards. What is that you mention about a 'good for age' place in FLM 10? Well done again!!' added 7th Nov 2008

nodi03 'Hi Hilary Congratulations on your New York Marathon, you must be so pleased with the 3:47. And many thanks for the comments you left on my blog. I am also worried about injury during my lead up to the FLM as i suffered with ITB syndrome about 3 years ago which cost alot of money in physio to put right. And i do seem to run through niggles but i always pull back when i feel something is wrong. My Half Marthon Times reflect me running as hard as i can go so my recent 1:43 was full belt . Now! i have completed a training 18 miler a few months back on a hot day which totally exhausted me , I started to shuffle at aound 15 miles so i thought i hadnt got the mileage in my legs . This weekend i did my usual 13miler which i did in 1:50 I am trying to run at my marathon pace and then add on the miles weekly but 1:50 is still pretty tuff especially with the hills on my course, but after that i start to respect the marathon challenge and think jees i have to do that again at the same pace . After the half marthon race i have at xmas i will be adding the miles so lookout for my blogs and see what pains i go thru and see if i am up for the sub 3:45 challenge . People say i will do it no probs , but i have given the course a little more respect , which is why i take my hat of to you . Well done' added 17th Nov 2008
