I've been atrocious at updaing my blog. I've decided that I really need to keep putting updates here, not so much because of I'm an exhibitionist (although I know almost for sure that next to nobody ever reads this blog lol) or because I need encouragment etc. I think it will be great to come back a year later and look at where I was and where I am then (probably in the same place :p. so I think I'll try to update it at least once a week giving my higlights of that week :)

So on with the blog :)

Sat 16th March. Went on the 8km run in Hyde Park. I went to leave picking up my MP3 player (to listen to on the tube) but found it had stopped working :( Stupid piece of crap, well it was free I suppose. Walked out and it was pelting it down :( Went and grabbed a cap and a brolly and set out. They had engineering works so no fast train missed the slow train, the day was going really well lol. Well I got there on time anyway but it was still raining hard and the wind was really bad. Very cold.

I knew nothing about the even, It was run by a student at the Imperial College Hospital with funds going to the Anthony Nolan trust. So, there were a few runnners there, met a guy doing the FLM this year. But for the most it was full of students. No not beer swilling fat students, but athletic sporty students lol. Oh well I wasn't planning on winning it haha.

The run was good. It was still raining and windy but I was going ok. At about 4 km' s tho, my calves starting to get some horibble twingy pains :( I had to slow down alot and they went. I think this only lasted a km tho and after that service was restored to normal.

Towards the end, I could see the bandstand all lit up where the finish line was so I really gave it a last final push, hit a hill oh no lol but made it up... only to see the bandstand was actually a coffee shop and the actual bandstand was still a little way off lol. energy spent, I still continued albeit at a slower pace than I intended.

they didn;t give a time check and I forgot my watch in the cufuffle with the rain and MP3 player :( But asking another guys time, I guestimate it at 46 mins. Not shabby.

Ok, next run was two dayts later, Not much to say. Apart form not a great run. I wanted to stop so many times and just didn;t enjoy the run at all. However, I pressed on and It was a 1 hour 10 min run. Pace was ok too. I'd taken a completely new route that day to accomodate the extra time/mileage and wanted to do fewer loops.

For the next run Friday 21st, I was staying at an uncles in Sandhurst. While I was packing my things, I realised something awfully funny. I'd gotten my old trainers out to wash my bike and I'd been wearing them for my last two runs! Explains alot especially the pain on the 8k run lol.

Anyway, the run was ok again. Very windy and it took me half an hour before I started to enjoy it. thefirst 1/2 was just agony to keep going, so many times I wanted to stop. Still, nice seeing a new area and new places. I think part of my problem is no MP3 player, I need to get one sorted soon.

Next run was Sun 23rd (March). I was feeling quite down and a little depressed all that day, decided a run would help clear my mindand make me feel fresh and good again. Oh and was it just what I needed or what!!? It was fabulous and I felt on top of the worl again after the run! Did 1 hour 20 mins in all. I did have a few chest pains all the way. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, I wasn;t overdoing it and it was a very, very mild pain. I'm assuming it's my heart just working really hard but the pace was right and I don't tihnk I was overdoing it. I did (barely) break the 10 min mile mind.

    • SuperCaz 'That is quite an impressive time for an 8k race! It's certainly faster than I can do. Glad the aches and pains were caused by the old trainers and not an injury, but keep an eye on that heart. As a one off, it was probably a bit of indigestion or something, but if it becomes regular then make sure you get it checked out.' added 25th Mar 2008

    • To_be_or_not_to_be_Marathon_M 'Well i read your blog! Your strong input on the forums entertains me to say the least! As supercaz said, its must've been nice to realise you legs issues were to do with your trainers! But yeah, get that heart checked out if the problems continue, no matter how minor! I had heart palpatations last year... which scared me... turned out i was drinking too much red bull and coffee and pro-plus and not eating enough to counter balance the caffeine (college was highly stressful - as a result caffeine was my answer to cure sleep!) Doctor just told me to cut out the caffeine completely or cut down. Bigger problem solved with a simple solution!' added 30th May 2008
