Late decision

This year my good cause is the Stroke Association. It is never easy deciding, but I feel good about this choice and my reasons for making it. I have felt good about my volunteering role at the local club for "survivors of stroke" and enjoyed the camaradarie of the members and supporters. We have carried out a few big projects which help protect the fabric and improve the appearance of the buildings and surrounds. Mainly I have been impressed by the way the club members help and support each other.
I considered simply getting sponsorship for the local club, but with my recent job change (code for redundancy) and lack of rich colleagues to ask for cash I thought justgiving was the way to go and that meant signing up with the national organisation which was already on the justgiving list.
While it does seem a shame that the internet may be pushing the money away from the local organisation, it cannot be denied that the justgiving service will significantly increase the funds I can raise. I will continue to support the local club as much as possible in other ways (e.g. bingo caller, gutter cleaning, painter, gardener), while my marathon efforts will be lined up to help the national body in the fight against stroke. Every small victory is worthwhile.
