The best laid plans o' mice and men don't include herring

I don't usually quote Robert Burns, but it does seem to apply to Marathon training. My tip today is make sure that at that pasta party or whatever social get-together you attend, don't forget to either sit down, or move your legs from time to time. The effect of standing still for a while at a cheese and wine almost crippled me the next morning on my long slow run.
I wasn't feeling too well last Monday either, but it was after I'd been for my recovery run, and it didn't last too long. If you must be ill, make sure it is on rest days!
On my run this morning I met a fish man with a van. I was in the village of Rusper, having just purchased a bottle of water from the village store. He was parked beside the shop and seemed to have a wide range of fresh fish at reasonable prices. Unfortunately I had neither ready cash nor a suitable receptacle. As I still had about 8 miles to run, I thought I'd give it a miss this week, but noted his opening times for future reference. I do like a nice bit of trout, and would be willing to broaden my experience of fresh fish.

Philippa_Perry 'Good advice! I went to a stand up party the other night, at which because of the marathon I didn't have any alcohol. I still had a hangover though - from all the standing up and talking without any lubrication! On my run on Eastbourne sea front, 8 miles from home is a wet fish shop. I'm thinking of taking an empty back pack and after it had been next to my back for 8 miles it might be cooked by the time I get home!' added 25th Jan 2008
