Donegal run
Had some good training runs in Donegal a few weeks ago during the February half term, fuelled by pasta and Guinness. The weather was very mixed. and we had snow towards the end of the week. Running in snow in the mountains was great-quiet and soft landings. Lots of fresh air by the sea was good for the lungs. Stopped occasionally to talk to the locals. Irish people are very friendly. One old chap of 82 could not believe I had just run 17 miles over the mountains. The joke was that I was actally lost! I retraced my steps but he had gone already. Was this guy real or had I imagined him? When I got back, I discovered that I'd run up a parallel road and if I'd crossed a field I could have saved myself another two miles and a very steeep ascent. I was carrying a map but map reading was never my forte!
