Crsah, bike mechanics and 5 weeks to go.

This is what i wrote to the club after a little mishap on Saturday....
"All,
It worked for Wayne Rooney 4 years ago when the nation all sent positive vibes to mend his broken foot. So i m asking for the club to do the Same for Paul Wills as he is only 5 weeks away from Ironman UK. I was out on a training day with him and his brother starting with a 3.25Km swim in the lake at Reading, followed by an 85mile cycle in the heat, finishing with a 5 mile run. This was to be our longest brick sesion, but a careless driver put a stop to that only 1 mile from T2 when they decided at the last minute come all the way round a mini roundabout instead of going srtraight over. We were doing 22mph and Mark Wills was on the front and didn't get a chance to tell us to stop as he slammed his brakes on, Paul Slammed his on but locked up and did a flront flip with the bike still clipped in, i slammed my brakes on but it was too late and i went straight into Pauls bike and slid alond the road stilled clipped in.
Anyway it all looked really bad for Willsy but after a lot of logistics we got him to the hospital for X-rays, and 3 doctors later they said he hasn't broken his collar bone but it probablay did dislocate and relocate straight away but has caused damage to the tendon that holds it in place. His is being nursed at home by Vicky. I am convinced he can make it to the start line in Bolton but will need positive people all around him, and he will need to accept his time will be different from the one he was expecting. So join me in wishing him well.
His Dalkiia TT bike suffered some cosmetic damage and the rear carbon wheel is a little warped, but could have been worse. I am a little grazed but luckily i bounce quite well."
So there you have it, i have escaped a potential show stopper. Thank Fec for that. On another note, i have done loads of jobs to my bike lately that i used to pay the bike shop to do. It's briliant and i am making full use of the giant shed i built. I canged a gear cable yeasterday and reset up the gears, i took the crank off and the bottom bracket out, I have cleaned my chain and cassette properly so they look new. The man hours i used to get charged for such things was crazy. I have put red tyres on my Tri-and-Run bike and they have really finished it off loverly. I might change the handlebar tape to red from black aswell. Went for a 6 mile x-country with Irondog this morning. Glorious weather and not affected by the crash at all, so thats good. Less than 5 weeks to go now, and i am buzzing, cannot wait to get it on. I dont get nervous about these things, just excited. Cant wait to meet Lady Fe from real buzz aswell. My supporters and family are wearing black vests that have "fatman 2 Ironman" printed on them so if you see one, say hello to them and tell them how you know me. I have it printed all over my tri suit aswell. What a poser. Lol.

Jenny1961 'That is such bad news for your mate Jase. And could have been for you as well so really glad that you escaped relatively unscathed. Can't believe its only 5 weeks to go. I didn't like you saying LESS than 5 weeks to go...EEEEK! Out on my 80 mile cycle ride on Sunday I was feeling that I would be so so gutted if I didn't make the swim cut-off time and miss that chance to have a lovely long cycle ride on relatively traffic free roads in Ironman. I would feel cheated! ( Am sort of avoiding thinking too much about the matter of the marathon run afterwards! ) I admire anyone who can do things to their bikes. I'm afraid I still make use of the trusty bike shop to sort me out!' added 28th Jun 2010
