Getting There

Sep1420099:37 a.m.

It has been a while since my last blog and things are progressing well. Just over 6 weeks since I finished Chemo and most of the side effects are wearing off, but still left with pins & needles and numbness in my hands & feet.

As far as the running goes I have been putting in a lot of work and the form is starting to return. I have been mixing it up with varying runs some long distance of up to 13 miles. A weekly tempo session of 1500 meter good pace with 500 meter recovery, for about 9 miles.  And once a week hill work of 8 x 200 meter up hill with jog back recovery. Add a few easy recovery runs and it adds up to 40-45 miles a week.

The results are starting to show as I did a 10 k time trial yesterday not a race but a fast run on local roads on a measured course I managed that in a time of 53 min 47 sec (last year I was doing the same course in around 45 min). But this puts me just on course for my target of beating 2 hrs on the Great East Run on 11th October.

By then we should have heard the results of the ballot to know whether we have been accepted in to the VLM then the real work starts.
