Rest, massage, new shoes and 'Go-Ape'
After not running last Sunday I booked myself a nice leg massage with Sue for Tuesday night and it worked walking became a lot more comfortable on Wednesday. She alos suggested a gait analysis and maybe new shoes. So duly told off I went to Sewatshop on my way home with my running shoes ans had a gait analysis and good talking to and was told my shoes were ffine but the current pair were 'past their best'. So the Asics Gel Cumulus are good for me but how did I fancy trying a piar of Nimbus instead? Me: price my answer for basically the same shoe they are £30-£40 a pair dearer. But if i wasn't bothered about colour they had an offer at £72 a pair. Well not being able to resist a bargain I came home with a bright pink with a vivid blue trim Asics Gel Nimbus!!Yet to tried on the road but have been tried on the dreadmill and felt nice and springy.
Oh and trip to the emergency vet with the cat. Yes expensive £144 for the callout fee, the consultation and the anti-inflamatory injection and the antibiotic injection but at least he is okay today.
So Friday I was feeling a bit sore so decided just to help at Caldervale and not risk a very hilly four miles for my comeback run. It was also Keith's birthday on Friday so I'd booked for us to do Go-Ape at Rivington yesterday.
Now this is good fun and really tough on the upper body and tough on the legs as well. I have no strength whatsoever in my arms and got stuck on the cargo net in the first site and had to have assistance to get on the the next platform and got advised not to do the cargo net in the fifth site as there were two routes and it could be avoided. The 200m zip slide down the side of the resevoir up there was brilliant. I have two lovely bruises, one on my knee and one on my arm and my upperbody is really stiff today so we haven't been for a run I'm sorry to say. But it might have done us good.
Off for a catch up.
