About VLM - My first marathon & I can't wait!

After 4 years of applying I was over the moon to discover I had a place!

For the past month or so I've been doing a lot of charity runs. I've also been suffering with bad blisters on the arch of one of my feet. My last 10k is this week so after that I'll let my foot recover properly and then kick into marathon training. Just in time for the dark, wet mornings. Great! But if/when I come across the times when I'll rather be curled up in my toasty bed I'll keep the bigger picture in my mind to keep me going.

I am certainly not a born runner, I have short legs & the lung capacity of a 2 year old (despite never smoking a single cigarette in my life!) but I'm pushing my body further & further. I still remember the days when I was cuffed that I could run for 5 mins without stopping. Thankfully come a long way since then. At the moment the furthest I've ever run in race conditions is 10k but I've wanted a place in the marathon for so long I'm going to put in all the hours needed to get me round that course.

Since finding out last week that I got a place, I must have been boring the hell out of my family talking about the marathon so glad there is places for me to get my fix.
