Marathon training update
Dec17200910:40 a.m.
Training is going well for my first marathon. Blisters are still there but most of the time I'm managing to protect them from getting worse.
I did a 15k at the start of December which at times I found tough. What with injuries and a cold I hadn't been getting out as much as I wanted beforehand but that race gave me the kick I needed. Since then I've been about 8-9 miles before work which has become nice & comfortable. I do need to start doing more mileage but it's becoming a matter of lack of time rather then lack of energy! Been doing longer runs at the weekend, I came back from a early 10 miler last weekend feeling postively refreshed rather then knackered!
The cold dark morning are definitely a battle but once in the routine of getting up early it's becoming easier. Today though it was very icy so to save myself from a potential broken bones I ran a shorter distance very slowly at parts.
Hopefully training will continue to go well over Christmas and I can keep upping my mileage. Previously i'd been sticking to 5k-10k but the thought of being able to complete a half marathon comfortably used to be a pipe dream but if I don't let things slide over Christmas it can become a reality.
