Just two sleeps to go!
Apr1520117 p.m.
Can't believe there are only two nights left, I hope I sleep better tonight. I'm at that age where I hardly ever get an unbroken nights sleep, usually because I have to get up for a wee & I almost always seem to wake up early even at the weekends, grrrr! I just know I won't sleep well Saturday night, but at least I won't have any problems getting up, I'll already be awake!
Went for my last threshold run on Tuesday, it was a beautiful evening. I went out on my own & headed towards Fleet pond on the disued bit of roadway. The aim was for 2 x 5 min thresholds with 60s recovery. I thought the stretch of tarmac would be long enough for a 5 min run, it probably would have been if I was slower, so I ended up runing on the uneven, stony track for about third of it, before turning around & heading back home.
Wednesday I met up with the Bridge Club at the canal & did the loop around Tundry Pond without the twiddly bits - about 2.8 miles in about 40 min (didn't bother with my Garmin). Felt great, really fresh. Should only have been 30 mins, but I didn't think it would matter that much.
Met up with Anita at Waterloo station today to go to the Expo. Both of us are really nervous & having kittens. I enjoyed looking round all the stands & was really surprised to see my picture on the charity wall at the big Adidas stand near the entrance! It was taken at the Reading half & I had written a few words about my charity which are printed for all to see too. Made use of the massage to try to relax my neck & shoulders which have seemed quite tense during my long runs recently. Probably because I'm always looking down trying to avoid stones on the canal towpath! Also bought a new sport bra & sun visor & no I'm not wearing my new bra on Sunday, but may try out the visor. Lots of goodies being given away & came away with a pair of sunglasses from Sweatshop & a drinks bottle from the New Balance stand.
Have a 10 min run scheduled for tomorrow, but can I be bothered? It hardly seems worth putting on my running kit.
Now I've just got to sort out what kit I'm taking & make sure I've charged my Garmin, phone & camera for the start.
This is my last post before the big day, so good luck to everyone & pace yourselves. I'll be in the blue start & my runner number is 20194. The funny thing is, my Reading half number was 20594, I hope that's a good omen!
Happy running!
