Yes....I did it!!!
Apr1820118:26 a.m.
It all went to plan because the plan was to stay in front of the dust carts, and get my medal before the people giving them out had gone home! That was the only plan I had.
I met many inspirational people along the way including the oldest man, who had prostate cancer and had to stop for the loo very often. He still found time to tell me that no matter what my body was telling me, to just tell it that I was going to ignore it today. He walked with me for a while.
I had no problems as such, just the normal hip and knee ache.
My finishing time 7:32:41. No great shakes I guess but I am very proud of my time. Everyone who knows me knows that I couldn't have done better on the day and being at the back of the crowd gave me the ability to meet many truly inspirational people with personal stories.......non runners usually.....just like me.
I did think at one stage that the crowd was laughing at me but luckily it was just a pair of testicles passing me by!
I'd like to thank everyone for the encouragement you have given me in the past few years.
I DID IT and I'm very proud of myself!!!
