48 x 0.25m = one happy me :)

Jan2120126:29 p.m.

Today being Saturday, meant long run day. Wasn't sure how it would go after being tired on the last run, but was encouraged by how well last weeks 11m went, so set off feeling positive.

Having the kids meant it was another treadmill run. I promise Tuesday will be outside! So I decided to break each mile into 4 and do 0.25m at 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 0% inclines. Worked well:). Didn't really notice the inclines, but it broke the mile up and stopped boredom setting in.

Took a mile or 2 to settle in as I went on a bit too soon after eating and had a stitch. But once I settled in the miless passed quite easily. I was a little surprised. Only started to feel it in the legs when I got to 8/9 miles, but nothing bad enough to make me think about not doing what I'd set out to.

After increasing the speed a notch every mile last week, I decided to do the same this week. Increased all the way to mile 9, then dropped back a little from there, so miles were paced like this - 12:00, 11:45, 11:32, 11:19, 11:06, 10:54, 10:42, 10:31, 10:20, 10:31, 10:42, and 10:54. Finished feeling strong, which was another surprise, though the feet were starting to feel a little sore towards the end.

All told I did the 12m in 2:12:24, with an average of 11:02. I am more than happy with that! It's amazing what a few runs fo 6/7m does for the stamina, plus some speed work and hill sessions. Don't think I've felt that good during a run in a very long time, and certainly not in one that I've run all the way. Long may it last.

So that's 31m for the week, and 72 for the year so far. Think the only other time I've run 31 miles in a week is if I've had a marathon at the end of it! Another 100% Jantastic week, and 2n up on the 2012km in 2012 weekly target.

Day off tomorrow, ready to start another week with a speed session on Monday :). Home weigh-in in the morning too. Fingers crossed for a few more dropped lbs :)
