Interval time

Jan2520123:58 p.m.

It was back to the treadmill today for my interval session. I'm useless at judging speed on the road, so intervals are much easier on the treadmill.

Today was 4 x 1m @ 9:40 pace, with 0,25m recoveries, and 1m warm up/cool down. In total I did 7m in 1:13:32.

Could feel last night run in the legs, but it wasn't too serious. Just a general mild weariness, and slight ache in the hip area as I didn't stretch out like I usually do. Still, kept up with each mile effort without too much bother, and increased the incline each mile from 0% to 0.5% to 1% and back to 0%. It breaks the mile up and adds a little bnit more effort.

I'm now ahead of target for the 2012km in 2012, the total for the month now being 87.63m. Never been known! I'm actually quite excited at the thought of my first ever 100m month :).

Having worked out the training for the South Downs marathon properly, and making it race specific, I may even be up for 2012 MILES in 2012! Didn't think that would happen! But after the marathon, I've still got my eye on the dOyen of the Downs 30m ultra in december, so I will need to keep the miles up in the second half of the year for that.

Weigh-in tonight. Fingers crossed!

  • philk 'I have the same problem with judging pace on the road but I don't use a treadmill either so it is something I have to live with. Good going mate, I remember when we used to think 11mm were out of the question, now you do continual sub 10's! Bloody show off! ' added 25th Jan 2012

  • Nick 'One of the good points of using the treadmill. Mind you, if you are targeting the SDM you will have to get out and do some long runs off road and up and down some big hills!' added 25th Jan 2012
