I'm now a marathoner!

Hi, my name is Alison (aka Kraftykat) - yep, you've guessed - I like crafts and I like cats!

I started running in Autumn 2006. Following a major op earlier that year, and whilst in the gym trying to get my fitness back, I picked up a training plan for the London Marathon. And that was the start of it all! I'd got the bug!

2009 was a very special year for me as I achieved one of my biggest personal challenges, both physically and mentally by completing the Flora London Marathon. I 'sprinted' across the line to finish in 5:57:46 - very happy and very proud. Along the way I also managed to raise the fantastic amount of £2220 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Throughout my training I always said I only ever wanted to do 1 marathon and it had to be London and so to get this opportunity on my 3rd attempt in the ballot was wonderful. But... as I got round safely, injury free, in one piece and enjoyed myself so much I entered the ballot again for a place in the VLM 2010. However, it wasn't to be......I was a reject! Same again for 2011! But.... there are other marathons out there besides London and I'm now the proud owner of a lovely Kielder Marathon medal.
