First outing on a bike

My bike training has started. I completed a 30 mile session on my mountain bike this weekend and I was shattered! I need to get on the road bike to get used to it. I'm considering paying £150 for a turbo trainer to sit in front of the TV and cycle...

I've looked into road races and it's the London to Oxford this weekend for CLIC Sargent - 60 mile ride. Could I complete that distance? I'll let you know if I sign up...
