Long slow walk !
May0220108:44 p.m.
The walking is going much better this week and I have managed to walk everyday since Thursday even helped my shopping bill as I walked to Tesco therefore cutting down on what I can buy. Much as I love the canal I decided today was the day to add some hills!! and boy did I pick some killers. I remember years ago walking at Woodchester Park a nearby National Trust property. Thought it had some gentle climbs and wasn't too long for my first effort. Arrived and paid my parking fee then looked at the board showing the routes availabe. Three choices 1.7 miles with gentle climbs, 3.5 miles steep in places or 7 miles steep in places.
I picked the long one thinking it wouldn't be too bad. Route description didn't tell you that it was almost all of the route is uphill. There was lots of bluebells and wild garlic especially on the first part of the walk.
Finally got to the lowest point of the walk, in height that is. This was the bottom lake of a series of 5 in a dam race.

Then it was back uphill in the hope that finally I'd get a sighting of the unfinished victorian gothic. Mansion. So a mile from the car and there it was and boy was I pleased to see it.

There was quite a few people around here which felt odd as I'd not seen more than a couple of the people up to this point.. Today was an open day and the National Trust were doing tours. Took me almost 3 hours but I'm happy with that considering the terrain but quite a bit of work required if I want to do 25 miles in less than 10 hours.
So weeks total training is 23.44 miles well happy with that.

A good start
Training is going well, 3 .25 miles completed tonight this is my shortest walk of the week. Think I'm going to know the Gloucester to Sharpness canal...
