We're Jammin
Jun24201110:48 p.m.
This week, I have mostly been working...
...oh... and making jam, and pickling beetroot, and shelling peas (then freezing the pods for future peapod wine), and digging up potatoes and gently squeezing broad bean pods to see if the sleeping beans are ready..... and, of course, getting my head around an autumn marathon.
I am pleased to announce that I have been fruitful in all disciplines.
I now have 26 assorted jars of raspberry and lime; blackcurrant; gooseberry and elderflower; and strawberry jam (although it is more like a sauce than a jam!). I also have enough empty jars, thanks to Freecycle™, to supply Morrisons
.
The peas get the big thumbs up from Harry, I haven't once had to say "eat your peas", and I am hoping the forthcoming Peapod Burgundy will be on a par with Tom and Barbara's...

'The Ooh-Aah bird is so-called because it lays square eggs. I don’t understand that'.
Tee hee.
Christmas could be fun in our house!
And as for running... well... I think it may be all coming back to me.
I have had some cracking sessions over the past week or so, I can feel the fitness coming back. It has felt controlled and, all the more important, I have got a serious buzz from it. I have given myself time to really focus on the challenge ahead and I am really up for it.
I have been LSRing (enjoying the view and doing a bit of birdwatching as I run), Steady'ing (perspiring, but still able to sing), Pushing it to the Limit over 3 miles (sweating.. just about able to string a sentence together) and Hilling.....
I have chosen the hill that on the way down makes me pull a face like this...

... you can only imagine the grimace on the way up. I still don't get hills though... how steep, how long, how fast... the runner's equivalent to the meaning of life...
During the past couple of weeks I have also been reminded about why I love doing this running lark so much.... I get to check out the hedgerows of the country lanes for the best bramble bushes for the next batch of jam!
Happy berries
Lou xxxx
