Steamtown - NOT CHICAGO
Jun2920082:58 a.m.
Same day - Chicago and Steamtown, and I chose Steamtown. I'm so tired of those mega races. I'm looking forward to this course.
I am into the training plan supplied by Hal Higdon via TrainingPeaks. I've got my 10 miler planned for tomorrow. Actually sounds good. This time last year, I was up to 13 as my long run, and I really think I overtrained. Or maybe I just choked!
At any rate, I thought I would follow someone else's plan instead of my own. You can follow my progress and see if it works.

SLF0173 'Glad you chose Steamtown my friend. I actually live in the Scranton area and I must say it really is a great race. I'm also following one of Hal Higdon's Intermediate marathon training programs so it appears that we have some things in common. I'm actually running 11 this coming weekend, and I don't believe I'm running 13 until two or three weeks, so maybe you were running a bit too aggressive last time around. All training programs are different though. Good luck to you this year - hoping you qualify for Boston..that would be very exciting. -Shawn' added 3rd Jul 2008

agingric 'Steamtown is a wonderful race....tons of volunteers, many people along the course cheering, also many locals set up unofficial aid stations in their yards. This will be my third steamtown, and i've never run a different marathon. A few things I'm planning on doing differently this year-- hold back some over the downhills at the beginning, and bring a change of socks for after the rail trail section. Andy' added 3rd Jul 2008
