Bath Half Marathon I’ve run a half marathon

The blog of a first time, not very good, slightly old, often injured trainee marathon runner. I have been 'running' since Feb 2008 and managed to plod round a half marathon in March 2009 but due to constant injuries haven't built any kind of consistency, I suppose this is what happens if one takes a 20 year break from exercise and then chooses running as the best value mid-life crisis.

2009 went well compared with 08. Only 12 weeks injured, my first half-marathon and some limited success with 'minimal' running shoes helped reduce injury. And I still love doing races!

2010 will be interesting to say the least. Tongue out

  • 5k : 24:11 23:52
  • 5 mile : 39:57
  • 10k : 49:49  48:16 New
  • 10 mile : 1:26:28
  • Half : 1:58:33 1:53:08

Decided with all the injuries that I can't get the mileage in for a 2010 marathon after all, not in any structured way at least so will postpone for a year and maybe try London if successful in the ballot.

Blogging questions

Thanks so much to those who have commented on my new blog, it's appreciated. However I have a couple of questions.. sorry.

Firstly, what is the usual way of answering questions on blog comments? Is it to message that person or to use a comment on my own blog? That's a bit like talking to myself isn't it? Having said that I do this regularly anyway.

Finally, I edited my blog description yesterday and the lovely VLM colour theme disappeared and doesn't seem to be in the themes. Anyone know how to get it back, I don't feel I can train for a marathon without this colour scheme.

Well I can help with one of the questions...no really right or wrong answers but I think best place to answer a comment is to place a comment on that persons last or latest own blog posting. Talking to your self if fine but its unlikely that the person will see it.

Havent been able to get the VLM colour scheme myself so will be interested in answers

I didn't know how to respond to begin with either and was talking to myself, but then noticed some people used the notepad.

I like mixing it up - comments, notepad and messages depending on what it is.

Just noticed you are doing Royal Parks Half - me too! :)

Your blog caught my eye because of the 'Brighton' reference... I've entered too because I doubt I'll get into London (have had 3 rejections so far!!!)... so hopefully I'll see you there! You're ahead of me booking a hotel though. Might have to look into that one!
