Well, it wasnt the great South but...

I managed to go out today and do a three mile run which given that 9 weeks ago I was sat in a wheelchair in the Royal berks waiting for my crutches, I am pleased with my progress.
I went to the great South today as my friend Lindsay was running. I felt so jealous and really wanted to be in that little group of 20000+ runners going out and around Portsmouth. When I ran in 2008 it poured down with rain. Today was absolutely beautiful. It was chilly to start and then beautiful sunshine but not too warm. After having quite a laugh with my friend who found herself in the first 2 minutes of the orange wave without any clue as to what time she had put on the application form, I wandered along and got a lovely bacon sandwich and coffee ( maybe this running lark isnt all it is cracked up to be!) I wandered along the sea front and got within 30 metrres of the finish. I was in awe of the men's winner who completd in less than 46 minutes for 10 miles and also in my friend who finished in 82 minutes. For someone who doesnt like running she is pretty good at it.
Anyway, I am pleased that I ahve managed to do a 50 minute gym session on Tuesday which included 15 minutes of running and then an hour yesterday with 25 minutes. Today was 35 minutes so it is really coming on. Slowly but at least I am not in any pain and am slowly getting stronger.
