Congratulations to all those of you who got in and sorry if you didn’t.
I'm starting to think its it personal or am I just being a little bit paranoid but this London Marathon ballot thing is starting to get to me. Here’s my history with the ballot so far
2004 – No thanks
2005 – Sorry but try again next year
2006 – You’re getting closer.
2007 – Keep trying that’s and impressive wardrobe
2008 – NO
2009 – At last (but not through the ballot)
2010 – Look you had your go last year
2011 – Not you again go away
2012 – Ha-Ha can’t believe he’s even applied
As you may have guessed I didn’t get in this year and to say I’m a little frustrated in a under statement. Talk at the running club on Thursday was of course all about the vlm. So far we have 2 people who have qualified for gfa places and 3 who have got through the ballot including John who I run with now he’s just managed to get in for the third time in 4 years and yes he is filling in my application for vlm 2013. I‘ve put my name in the hat for a club place, so far there’s 21 us which means there was more chance of my name being pulled out of the original ballot. Don’t think I could raise the funds for a charity place, I managed to raise £1200 on my JOGLE trip earlier in the year and don’t feel I good go round the same people again.
Running wise things are going ok despite the fact the lsr aren’t very long at all the mo but I am managing to run 3 or 4 times a week and I’m still commuting on the bike 3 times a week. I’ve entered a 8 mile challenge race next weekend and includes numerous river crossing plenty of mud the odd trail and of course hills and then a 7 mile road race on the edge ofDartmoortowards the end of October.
The cub camp I went to with my lad a couple of weekends ago were as always great fun despite the rain and its surprising how much dirt one nine year old can carry on his person.
Good luck with all those forthcoming races and don’t try to do too much too soon.

Johnf 'I am surprised if you started applying back in 2004 that you haven't had a 5 and you're in place. Kids and mud go together and I bet it was fun.' added 1st Oct 2011

Rob_Barber 'At least with the old system you had that "5 rejects then you're in" system, which I guess was you're route in in 2009? Annoying that Virgin have taken away that glimmer of light from the end of that particular tunnel. ' added 1st Oct 2011

Firefly123 'Surely you should still be in line for the last of the '5 'no's' and you're in', Warren. I really don't think it's fair that they've taken away that option, but I'm guessing it won't change while Sir Richard in at the helm. Well done for keeping up with the running. ' added 2nd Oct 2011

eclipse 'its ridicules, they could easily increase the amount of entry places as there are hundreds that don’t show on the day or pull out, whilst it is nice for the charities they have so many now it is starting to reach the point where it is your only way in, if I was you I would send a letter of complaint.' added 2nd Oct 2011

simonedumergue 'So frustrating isn't it! I agree about the charity thing though. I did it with a charity place for my first one in 2009 and it was hellishly hard raising the funds. 2010 I couldn't believe my luck with a ballot place but have lucked out for 2011 and 2012. Sounds like some good alternative races for the short term though - like you. I've been seeking out the muddy ones with river crossings :-)' added 3rd Oct 2011

kraftykat 'I'm a VLM reject again too! Out of all my RB and FB running buddies, not one of them has got a ballot place this year. I think it's about 14 of us. Think we should run our own!' added 3rd Oct 2011
