Going backwards at the moment!!

Two days and two runs to blog about. Firstly yesterday I was scheduled to do 6 miles, which Iput off and put off. I nearly didnt bother as I had a lot on yesterday and didnt have much time to fit it in. However I began to feel guilty and ended up running straight before I went to play football (yes I know I shouldnt really be risking playing). Not the best of ideas as I was absolutly rubbish at football last night and had no energy! I then came home and had some work to do which I didnt get finished until midnight.

Again today I had a lot on so the only time I could fit my scheduled 10 miles in was first thing this morning and I was in no mood at all to do it when I woke especially as I had to increase my pace (to 9 min miles instead of 10) and that I felt very tired. So I had my porridge and headed out. I lasted 2.5 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!! stopped, felt tired, horrid and depressed and just couldnt be bothered to carry on - SO WALKED home!!!!!!!

Im finding it very tough at the moment (ever since I struggled with 20 miles on Sunday) The miles are coming thick and fast and I feel as though my body is quite tired. With my long run (20 miles again!!) scheduled for Saturday I decided not to push myself today,  just count it as a bad day and take two days rest prior to my LSR on Saturday. I think I have been over doing it a bit and my body needs a bit of a rest prior to my LSR on Saturday, especially as I am staying away tonight and working long hours tomorrow and travelling back late Friday night.

This has however once again given me negative thoughts and put me in a bad mood. Am I really up for this marathon? AAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH! Its horrid.

  • Snailyroo 'In an attempt to help my advice is STOP YA WHINGING! Seriously though, I know how you feel and I failed my 16 mile LSR half way through last week and took time to rest and sat on the sofa for 8 hrs straight. Turned off my phone. Shut the laptop. Did me the world of good. You need as much rest as you can get at this point. Its just as important as the running!' added 19th Mar 2010

  • SmudgerSJA 'Your doing great - to even be able to complete a 20 mile run and then go out this week and still run... I am going to do the Fleet Marathon this weekend after all and I thought to myself but it is only 13.5 odd miles I did 17 miles last Saturday then I had another reality check and thought come on since when has a half marathon distance not been enough... maybe your pushing yourself too hard as the marathon gets closer we are all getting edgy. I intend on doing the half marathon distance for my LSR this week and next week I will do my last run of 20 miles then start to taper down... I think you have been overdoing it a bit and expecting a lot from your body especially with football and alot on with work.. Maybe drop the distance back a bit this week and go for it next as you final run or the week after not sure of your schedule.... You will be fine!!!' added 19th Mar 2010
