A new week

I write todays blog with a tinge of guilt. After Reading and Thursday afternoons shocking run I decided on Saturday I would run for however long it felt comfortable. I have a couple of mates who are runners so invited them along aswell, the run the occasional 10k but not much more so I knew before setting of this may not be a long run.
First 10k was very comfortable at a steady pace and the banter with the guys was good aswell, think we talked about all things marathon, picked Englands starting 11 for the world cup and decided that Arsenal wont be strong enough to maintain a title challenge. It was nice having a bit of company on a run for a change, we eventually finished on 7 miles so a pretty short workout for me but as I have a packed running schedule this week before the taper it was probably no bad thing.
So this week I have 40 miles to run climaxing with a 20 mile run which I have already run twice so far but Im hoping for a confidence boosting time. Im going to approach it the same way i will the marathon, so same breakfast, same times and same energy plan on the run. So fingers crossed for a polished run and a good weeks training.
Thankfully the lack of miles over the weekend has left me fresh and ready to go again so fingers crossed for a good week.

squa25 'Good luck with the 20 miler just don't make the mistake of picking a route you don't know v well or plan will go out the window and you'll end up preparing yourself in a whole new way, that you've never ever imagined! ;0) I make reference to my 20! Haha I'm over it now and in hindsight it was the best prep I could have prior to London! Hope yours goes to plan though.' added 29th Mar 2010
