14 miles and a sprint at then end

After last weekend's half marathon and with the start of a new job with a 4 hour commute each day, I decided to take things a little easier. I ran 2 miles Monday and Tuesday and 4 miles Saturday followed by a 14 mile run this morning.

For the first time in ages I felt no pain whilst I was running. I got ready to hobble at the beginning of the week but when I started running, there was nothing! No shin splint pain, no knee pain, nothing. Very strange. I wasn't able to run as much as I'd like with the train journey and delays and by the end of the week, there was no running on Thursday or Friday as I was too tired from the commute.

I wasn't entirely enthuiastic about the 14 mile run but did it anyway. It was a lovely warm, sunny morning. Again no pain, just a really enjoyable run. Everything went well. I didn't stop once and I even sprinted at the end. I felt I could have done more miles but as I have a 20 mile race next Sunday I didn't want to push it and injure myself.

I seem to have found what works for me now and have a bottle that I can tuck into my waistband of my trousers filled with Lucozade Sport. Thank god!!! I feel much more positive about running the marathon now. I just hope I can get my running done during the week with all the commuting.
