Superbowl Weekend
Feb0320128:15 p.m.
I'm having a late lunch at my desk in New York and reading blogs about how cold it is in London. We've had an unusually warm winter so far over here, other than the cold spell mentioned in my previous blog, so I guess I should count my blessings. Hope things warm up over there.
Will be running 14 miles tomorrow morning in forecasted chilly but sunny conditions and probably another 3 - 5 miles on Sunday.
The highlight of my weekend, however, will be the Superbowl on Sunday evening. This American football championships is the biggest sporting event of the year in America and has particular interest locally this year since the NY Giants will be competing.
As an example of the interest in this event, 30 second spots for television commercials during the game run as high as $4 million. Advertisers use the opportunity to debut new commercials that are often so interesting that many people pay more attention to the commercials than to the game.
I'll be watching this spectacle, including the half-time entertainment from Madonna, at a Superbowl party with a few dozen friends. Probably won't be running on Monday.
Regards.
