Rain doesn't stop play!

Mar0120103:39 p.m.

What crap weather it was yesterday but it didn't stop me from doing my first solid 15 miler.

I got up late and saw the weather and tried to do everything I could to delay the run but eventually I had no more excuses and had to get on with it. My aim was to head to Putney and run up to Kew and then back to Fulham along the other side....and I did it. Despite the rain, despite having to hop round masssive puddles, despite cutting my leg open on bramble as I hopped round the massive puddles, despite getting lost in Kew and then in Chiswick, despite a painful glut muscle thanks to hockey and despite my iphone running out of juice half way round and therefore not having my power music.....I did it.

I was really proud of myself by the time I got home and am actually starting to believe I might be able to do this....HOO-RAH!

In addition I am up to 91% of my fundraising target.......it's all going a little too well......

Today is a well needed rest-day and I am supposed to be running a little 6 mile run to work in the morning but am contemplating having another rest day and then doing a double whammy on Wednesday with a run before going to hockey training.....eek.

Hope everyone elses training is still going well!

Good luck,

KHx

  • EBrowns 'hey, super work on the 15 miler - feels good doesn't it! One annoying word of caution (if i may be so bold) I sure you know this but... make sure you recover properly from this run i.e. let the legs rest a bit because I upped my mileage a bit too much tried 30 miles in a week last week and I've now hurt my stupid knee! Only saying it as it seems like you're doing very well, so just take extra care of your legs they're amazing machines!' added 1st Mar 2010

  • petiteange 'Thanks for the tip. I have another big hockey match on Saturday and hopefully doing another 15/16 miler on Sunday so probably wise to give the old legs a couple of days off. They did their bit on Sunday!! Thanks again for the advice! K' added 1st Mar 2010
