Scared and it's my bum that needs work.....

Mar122010noon

So I just thought I'd have a little read of some of the other blogs and now feel absolutely petrified about this whole Marathon business. I am in absolutely no way running 57 miles a week....the thought alone makes me want to run to the Thames, take off my trainers and throw them in there for good measure, along with my heart rate monitor, leggings and all the other equipment currently causing my bank manager to be having a fit.

After another tough hockey match last Saturday I didn't run on Sunday. It wasn't the tiredness just the busy day with my parents here etc. I also thought it might do my glutes some good as they seem to be about as useful as John Terry currently is to England (yes it's very painful).

I had hockey training Wednesday night, got up and ran to work on Thursday morning and then have a really tough hockey match tomorrow morning and them am umpiring. The plan then is to get up at 8:30/9 on Sunday and nail a 3.5 hour run.

I am realising why I have never done anything like this before. The thought of running fills me with dread. I was actually having nightmares about running to work before I woke up on Thursday morning. Thank god there is only about 6 weeks to go....although saying that I bet as soon as the pressure of running is out of the way I may actually enjoy it.

Everyone tells me that you eventually get to a point with running where you forget about running and your head clears. To be honest I haven't and don't think I will ever reach this point. Running doesn't seem to be for me....I need something to run after like a hockey ball (or a man as some of my friends kindly suggested)

So big 17/18 miler on Sunday (maybe more depending on the music and how tough the hockey is tomorrow) then have finally booked a sports massage on Monday....bit concerned about telling a big German guy that it's my bum that needs work!!
