3 in a row!

3 in three days, some sort of record for me? Actually, I think I was on something like 10 in a row at the start of the year.
Sunday - this was the easier one, I refereed a football match so it was intervals. The good thing abou tintervals is you get to rest and recover between runs. OK, nothing is timed and I might be walking one second and sprinting my arse off the next but it is 90 minutes of effort and concentration. I had, I think, a decent game. No bookings so the game was under my control but it was helped by two teams who play football and are not looking for a Sunday afternon punch up because they didn't get one on Saturday night (can you tell I played in the 80's and 90's?). 4.39m.
Monday - popped out for a short little recovery run of 4 miles along the old Meon Valley Railway track. Didn't quite get a negative split
, 2 miles out in 21:47, 2 miles back in 21:48. Hey, I am not going to complain about that. The track was muddy and slippery in places and I had road shoes on which doesn't help. And I wasn't looking for a decent time, it was a gentle recovery jog so I don't know what happened there. Took Brian with me for a change.
Poor Brian - took him with me today as well, for 10½ miles. Anyone who runs with a dog off it's lead will know that they do at least twice as many miles as the owner (OK, he's got twice as many legs as well) so he must have done 20m at least. No wonder he's been asleep since we got in! Got Mrs K to drop me off at the top end of the Hayling Billy Trail on Hayling Island, did 2 miles along there then turned back and headed home. Just off the island I found a path I didn't know existed and followed that guessing it would take me out where it did, trouble is I hadn't reckoned on it shaving a few miles off my planned route either. Trotted along and I was pleasantly surprised at how I was feeling, the running was just happening without me giving it much thought. This was probably helped by my Ipod choice. I got to 8 miles and then started to feel it and the last few were a struggle but not as bad as usual. 10½ miles in 2:09 hours. Very happy with that as it was an LSR with walk breaks in the last few miles.
Ipod - today I ran with my I-pod and the dog, something I never do as I like to keep my wits about me where he is concerned. I decided not to run with music but with Eddie Murphy (RAW), and Richard Pryor (Live) instead. Haven't heard either since about 1986, and being so un-PC I am sure neither would be recorded these days but they are so fricking funny I was actually laughing my tits off as I ran over Hayling Bridge. It certainly helped take my mind off running which is why I think it went so well today.
Never ever give up
