Getting back?

May07201210:33 a.m.

2 weeks since the marathon and in that time I have ran once and tried to run to run once.

Tried - left it a week or so until all marathon aches had gone then tried to run on a groin injury - that didn't work. I managed 2 miles walk/run but it was very uncomfortable. Felt really strange just doing 2 miles when a week before I had done 26.2. Seemed pointless really but it hurt too much to carry on.

Run - a week of resting, icing, self massaging and heating seemed to help. Had a few days of very little pain so I went for a short jog on Sunday morning. Did 2½ miles relatively pain free, in fact, it was pain free but a little stiffness although that soon wore off. Felt good to be running but it did ache once I got home and relaxed. Plenty more icing and today it seems to be OK. Might venture out in the pissing rain for another jog round the block later on.

Future - going back to the New Forest for the half in September. That is all I have planned for now.

Never ever give up
